Firing a worker because of pregnancy is prohibited by law.
Companies are prohibited from doing the following to their employees for the reasons of taking pregnancy, maternity or childcare leave.
・Force them to quit their jobs
・Refuse to help extend their visa
・Cut their pay
If you are told by your company that they want you to quit or they will cut your pay because of your pregnancy, call for consultation. You can find where to call in the leaflet created by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare.
The leaflet also provides information on the systems available to those who are experiencing pregnancy, childbirth and child-rearing. Check to see what systems you can use.
