[IKE24-10]【For Dog Owners】
A domestic case of rabies has not been recorded in Japan for some 70 years now, but it could be brought into Japan from abroad.
Rabies is a dreadful disease. Once developed, it kills dogs and humans alike almost 100% as there is no effective treatment.

Under the Rabies Prevention Law, dog owners in Japan are required to register their dogs with the municipality where they live and to have their dogs vaccinated against rabies every year. Violation will result in fines up to 200,000 yen.

If you are a dog owner, register your dog with the municipal office and give it rabies vaccinations.
Vaccination can be taken through “mass vaccination” provided by each municipality at community centers or city/town halls, or taken individually at a vet. Please contact your municipality for further information.
