- [IKE24-30]【Child Allowance to be Changed】

The content of child allowance has been expanded.
It has changed in the following 4 ways:
●Extension of eligibility to cover senior high school students
・・・Eligibility for child allowance is extended to parents with children until their graduation from senior high school - previously it was offered up to junior high school age.
※Even if the child is not enrolled in senior high school, allowance will be provided until the end of the school year (March) after the child turns 18 years old.
●Increase of payment amount for the 3rd and subsequent children
・・・Monthly allowances are 15,000 yen per child for the 1st and 2nd children up to the age of 2, and 10,000 yen from the age of 3 through high school age. For the 3rd and subsequent children, the monthly amount is increased to 30,000 yen per child through high school age.
●Income limit removed
●Timing of payment changed to every 2 months
・・・Payment is made every 2 months (6 times a year) instead of every 4 months (3 times a year).
As a parent, you need to apply at your municipal office if you are currently:
・Not eligible due to income limits.
・Not receiving child allowance because you only have a child/children of senior high school age.
・Receiving child allowance for your younger children but not for older children of senior high school age.
・Having 3 or more children, including those aged 18-22 who are economically dependent and you are helping with their living expense.
