[IKE19-37]【Filing a Tax Return】
Filing a tax return or "KAKUTEI SHINKOKU" is a procedure to adjust overpayments or underpayments of withholding tax or estimated tax during the year from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2019 (Reiwa 1).
There will be no notification from the tax office, so those who are applicable would need to file on their own.

●No need to file a tax return if:
・you are a salary income earner, your year-end tax adjustments have been completed, and you have no need for any filings, such as for deductions.
・you had no incomes.
・your total tax deduction/exemption amount exceeded your income amount.
・your public pension and other incomes were 4 million yen or less; plus incomes other than pension were 200,000 yen or less

●If your main income is a salary, you still need to file a tax return when:
・your salary income exceeded 20 million yen.
・you had incomes other than a salary, such as real estate incomes, that exceeded 200,000 yen.
・you received a salary from 2 or more companies.
・your medical expenses were high due to hospitalization, delivery, etc., and the total expenses including transportation fee to/from medical institutions exceeded 100,000 yen.
・you will take a tax deduction for housing loan for the first time this year
・your year-end tax adjustments have not been made

●Filing deadline:
March 16 (Mon), 2020

●Submit to
・local tax office of your area
・Online submission is also possible
