[IKE20-16]【For those wishing to work in Japan after graduating senior high school】
If you are to work in Japan after graduating a Japanese senior high school, the Immigration Services Agency accepts a change of your status of residence to
“Long Term Resident” (TEIJUSHA) or “Designated Activities” (TOKUTEI KATSUDO).
Those who meet all of the following requirements are eligible.

●To change the status of residence from “Dependent” (KAZOKU TAIZAI) to “Long Term Resident” (TEIJUSHA):
1. Graduated a Japanese elementary school and a junior high school.
※Junior high school includes evening schools offering middle school education.
2. Graduated or is expected to graduate a Japanese senior high school.
※Senior high school includes evening schools and correspondence schools offering high school education.
3. Currently living in Japan under the status of residence of “Dependent” (KAZOKU TAIZAI).
※You are eligible even under the “Student” (RYUGAKU) status of residence, as long as you are virtually eligible as “Dependent” (KAZOKU TAIZAI).
4. Arrived in Japan before turning 17 years of age.
5. Your workplace has already been decided and you are supposed to work there for 28 hours/week or more.
6. Having notified the municipal office of your place of residence, etc.

●What to submit:
1. Application. Attach your ID photo to the application form (T) on http://www.moj.go.jp/content/001290187.pdf 
※The form is also available at the regional immigration office in your area.
2. Resume with the graduation dates of a Japanese elementary school and junior high school.
3. Copy of graduation diplomas or certificates of a Japanese elementary school and junior high school.
4. Letter of guarantee. Guarantor does not have to be the parent. The format can be found at http://www.moj.go.jp/content/000007381.pdf

5. Document that proves you have graduated or is expected to graduate a Japanese senior high school.
6. Document that can prove you will be employed by a Japanese company, such as employment agreement and job offer letter.
7. Certificate of residence stating all the family members living together without MY NUMBER.


●To change the status of residence from “Dependent” (KAZOKU TAIZAI) to “Designated Activities” (TOKUTEI KATSUDO):
1. Graduated or is expected to graduate a Japanese senior high school.
※Senior high school includes evening schools and correspondence schools offering high school education.
※Students who enrolled in senior high school mid-term need to have the level of understanding of Japanese at around N2 of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test.
2. Your parent(s) is living in Japan as the supporter.
3. Currently living in Japan under the status of residence of “Dependent” (KAZOKU TAIZAI).
※You are eligible even under the “Student” (RYUGAKU) status of residence, as long as you are virtually eligible as “Dependent” (KAZOKU TAIZAI).
4. Arrived in Japan before turning 17 years of age.
5. Your workplace has already been decided and you are supposed to work there for 28 hours/week or more.

3. Certificate of student registration in a Japanese senior high school.
4. Students who enrolled in senior high school mid-term need a certificate of passing the Japanese Language Proficiency Test at level N2 or higher, or the BJT (Business Japanese Proficiency Test)/JLRT (Japanese Listening & Reading Comprehension Test) with a score of 400 or higher.
5. Letter of guarantee. Guarantor must be the parent. The format can be found at http://www.moj.go.jp/content/000007381.pdf

6. Document that proves you have graduated or is expected to graduate a Japanese senior high school.
