[IKE15-55]Be Alert for Rubella (German Measles)
□Rubella or German measles
The main symptoms are fever, skin rash, and swelling of the lymph nodes. Rubella spreads from person to person. The disease is contagious from about one week before to one week after the symptoms appear.

□Special precautions during pregnancy
If infection occurs during pregnancy, the baby could be born with hearing impairment or heart disease. Pregnant women should be especially careful to avoid infection.
Immunization is not offered during pregnancy. You should take a vaccination before you get pregnant.

□Preventive measures
To prevent rubella infection, it is necessary to get a vaccination. Financial assistance is available.
For more information about the immunization, please ask a nearby pediatric clinic or the municipal office in your area.
