[IKE18-35] Marriage・Divorce (Corrected edition): ■Marriage
Japanese laws provide conditions for marriage, which all need to be satisfied.
・As for the age for marriage, men need to be fully 18 years of age
or older and women 16 or older
・When under 20 years of age, parental consent is required
・The marriage should not be a bigamy
・For women to remarry, 100 days need to have elapsed since the date of the previous legal divorce
※ In some cases, women may remarry even if 100 days have not elapsed.
Please confirm at your municipal office.
・The couple cannot be lineal relatives by blood or collateral relatives by blood within the third degree of kinship.

■Divorce
Even foreigners residing in Japan are required to submit divorce papers
when divorcing in Japan.
Divorce papers refer to the papers submitted to the municipal offices you reside in upon divorce.
Submission to the home country will also be required.
However, submission may not be required in some cases,
such as divorces between foreigners.
