- This benefit payment applies to the following individuals:

(1) Individuals receiving “child-care allowances.”
Individuals who have already received their “child-care allowance” for June of 2020 do not need to submit any additional applications.
This benefit payment will be deposited into the bank account to which your “child-care allowance” was deposited.
*“Child-care allowances” refer to subsidies provided to individuals raising children in Japan as a single-parent.
This subsidy shall continue to be provided until the month of March for the fiscal year during which the child reaches the age of 18.

(2) Individuals that are not receiving “child-care allowances” due to them already receiving public pension benefits, etc.
You will need to submit a separate application to receive this benefit payment.

(3) Individuals who have suffered a large decrease in income due to the impact of the novel coronavirus, and for which their income for the past month has fallen below the level that makes them eligible to receive the “child-care allowance.”
You will need to submit a separate application to receive this benefit payment.

- Amount of benefit payment:
- For 1 child: 50,000 yen per household
- For 2nd child and each additional child: 30,000 yen per child

- Additional benefit payment:
50,000 yen per household.
For individuals for which both (1) and (2) as shown above apply, and for which they have suffered a large decrease in income due to the impact of the novel coronavirus, we ask you to apply. You will be able to receive an additional benefit payment.

- Follow-up benefit payment:
Individuals who have already applied for this subsidy can once again receive a follow-up benefit payment for the amount given above (50,000 yen per household, and 30,000 yen for 2nd child and each additional child).
Individuals who are applying for the first time can receive a benefit payment that amounts to 2 times the amount given.

*If you are not receiving “child-care allowances,” and you are unsure whether you are eligible to receive this benefit payment, we ask that you visit a local government office in your neighborhood.
To receive this benefit payment, eligible individuals will need to apply at their local government office in person.
In most cases, the deadline to apply for this benefit payment will be in February. Please ask your local government office for more details.

If you require multilingual interpretation and assistance to fill out application forms when visiting the consultation desk at your local government office, please call us at the phone number below.
