Here's information for those struggling with living expenses due to a decrease in income, caused by temporary business closure or unemployment under the impact of COVID-19.
Financial support from the government is available, including interest-free loans that do not require a guarantor.
(1) Emergency Small Amount Fund "KINKYU KOGUCHI SHIKIN"
Small loans for households facing an urgent need and temporary difficulty in maintaining their livelihoods.
The amount is 200,000 yen and under, depending on the household conditions.
Need to be returned within 2 years.
(2) General Support Fund "SOGO SHIEN SHIKIN"
Loans are provided for up to 3 months.
The maximum amount per month is 200,000 yen for a household of 2 or more persons, and 150,000 yen for a single-person household.
Need to be returned within 10 years.
Applications for (1) and (2) loans can be made at Municipal Social Welfare Council, "SHAKAI FUKUSHI KYOGIKAI", in your area.

(3) Rent Support Benefit "JYUKYO KAKUHO KYUFUKIN"
If you cannot pay the rent due to a decrease in salary, you may be able to receive this benefit as rent support for a period of 3 months (up to 9 months).

(4) For those unable to pay electricity, gas, water or telephone bills
Some companies allow you to defer payment of bills.
It varies depending on the company you have a contract with or the municipality where you live.
