[IKE21-34]【2021 is Coming to an End】
What was the year 2021 like for you?
There were difficult times under the state of emergency caused by COVID-19 pandemic, while vaccination rollout started this year.
Here are some points to keep in mind for the year-end/New Year holidays.

●Hospital visit
Hospitals and clinics are closed during the year-end/New Year holidays.
Be sure to confirm if you have enough medicine until your next appointment and where you can get emergency care in case you suddenly fall ill.

●Avoid getting infectious diseases
Winter makes people more vulnerable to illnesses such as influenza, colds, pneumonia or stomach flu.
Precautions against COVID-19 is also important.
Wear a mask when you go out and wash your hands often.
Also, sleep well and eat well.

●Watch out for car accidents
More people go out in their cars during the year-end/New Year holidays.
For drivers and non-drivers alike, stay safe from car accidents.

●Don't overeat or overdrink
You will have more occasions like year-end or New Year’s parties to enjoy drinking and eating.
Be careful not to get food poisoning, viral infections, and acute alcohol intoxication caused by too much drinking.

●Beware of thieves
Thieves will know you are not home if they see mail piling up in your mailbox.
Remember to always lock your house, even when leaving for a short period of time.

In Japan, we greet each other at the end of the year by saying “YOI OTOSHIWO.”
It means, “I hope the new year will be a great year for you.”
We would say it right before the year-end holidays start, or when we are saying goodbye for the last time of the old year.
Try saying it to your friends or colleagues when you get a chance.

Well then, everyone, YOI OTOSHIWO!
