To collect funds for reconstruction after the Great East Japan Earthquake, a Special Reconstruction Tax where the tax rate of 2.1% will be imposed on the standard National Income tax. This tax is in effect from Jan. 1, 2013 until Dec. 31 2037 for a period of 25 years.
