- [IKE23-32]【Filing a Tax Return “KAKUTEISHINKOKU”】

Filing a tax return or “KAKUTEISHINKOKU” is a procedure to calculate the income earned during a year (from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, 2023) and file the amount of tax imposed on it to the tax office.
It is mostly private business owners who need to file tax returns, but company employees also need to do so in some cases.
If you are eligible or required to file a tax return, you need to go for it yourself as there is no notification from the tax office.
●Need to file a tax return if:
・Your salary income exceeded 20 million yen.
・You had incomes other than a salary which exceeded 200,000 yen.
・You received a salary from two or more companies.
・The total amount of your medical expenses, including transportation fee to/from hospitals, exceeded 100,000 yen due to hospitalization, childbirth, etc.
・You will receive a mortgage deduction for the first time this year.
・Your year-end tax adjustment has not been made by your company.
●No need to file a tax return if:
・You are a company employee, and the year-end tax adjustment has been completed.
・You had no incomes.
・Your total income deduction amount exceeded your income.
・Your public pension and other incomes were 4 million yen or less and incomes other than pension were 200,000 yen or less
●Filing deadline:
March 15 (Friday), 2024
