Financial assistance is available to foreign (or those originally of other nationalities) Kanagawa residents to pay for living expenses while in high school, technical college / trade school, or university. People who satisfy all three terms below are eligible.
(1) Foreign residents (or those who previously held a different nationality) living in Japan who satisfy either “a” or “b” below.
a) Indochinese refugees or other refugees included in the 1951 Refugee Convention and their children
b) Returnees from China and people of Japanese ancestry residing permanently in Japan and their children
※Foreign (or originally non-Japanese) individuals in similar circumstances as the above are also eligible.
※ Individuals with a visa status of “student” are not eligible.
(2) Those who have difficulty paying school fees
(3) Kanagawa residents attending high school, technical college trade school / university as of April 2014 or those who plan to enroll in April 2014.
