[IKE13-48]Bicycle Rules
On December 1, 2013 the law changed as did the rules for riding bicycles. Let’s follow the rules and ride
safely.

■ Bicycle riders must keep to the left of the roadway. When riding on the sidewalk, cyclists must ride in the side strip separated from pedestrians by a white line that is on the roadway side. Riding on the right side risks a penalty up to a 3-month jail sentence or 50,000 yen fine.
