A child allowance is paid to persons registered as residents in Japan who are raising children born between April 2, 1999 and June 2014. People already receiving the allowance will be sent “Current State Report” (現況届or genkyo todoke) to update their eligibility status from their local municipal office. Fill in the form and submit it to your local municipal office. In order to receive a child allowance payment starting in June, it is necessary to file the Report. For questions and guidance, please inquire at your local municipal office.
